Club History

Our club started as the result of a coaching course offered to the public by the Irish Wheelchair Association approximatly five years ago. At the end of the course, the IWA offered to donate equipment to us if we would start up an able/disable archery club. This we were delighted to do, and so Cuchulainn Archers was set up. The origional Founder members are still part of the club which has gone from strength to strength.We have members ranging in age from 10 years to over 60's, men and women, boys and girls.
We meet every Saterday in the Parish Centre, Hale Street, Ardee, County Louth from 11am to 1pm.

After five years in competition we have:

Three members of our club on the Ireland team
A +1300 archer (there are only 15 others in Ireland)
An Irish record holder ar 50 metres
The Indoor National Champion, Ladies Compound, 2008
The Outdoor National Champion, Ladies Compound, 2008
2nd place in the National Barebow Championship, (Ladies) 2008
2nd in the Irish Open, Men's Compound (Indoors) 2008
2nd in the Irish Open, Ladies's Compound (Indoors) 2008
The Intervarsity Champion (Recurve) 2008 and 2009
3rd in the Intervarsity Barebow Championship
4th Irish Open, Outdoors, Mens Compound 2008 (2nd highest Irishman)
3rd and 4th in Irish Open, Outdoors, Womens Compound 2008

Aside from this many members of our club have won FITA stars, classification which can only be won in outdoor competitions. This is a great achievement as we do not currently have an outdoor venue.
